Barty Crouch Jr.: As a little kid
Flying carpet: a rug that flies!
ball: It's the quaffle
Violet: The carpet is purple
Sad: Barty is afraid of hieghts maybe?
So, it's Barty Jr. who was playing Flying carpet Quidditch when he lost the Quaffle in the clouds and lost control of his carpet, so he's sad, and stuff.
