Curious Orb

The picture took brighter and a little darker then I painted it but...I tried tweaking it in my editor and...failed miserably.
Mau isn't really blue skinned, by the way, those were just my two color choices for the peice. She's actualy rather pale and has purple hair.
This one has a story with it, I don't know how else to explain it. This is set in my OW, Ellayniyah.


"The Goddess Mau had been walking along the shoreline of the Sands Under the Oaks when she saw something drop from the stars in the sky and splash in the water. She swam out and dove after it. She found an orb of purest clarity at the bottom of the sandy sea.
She took the orb back with her to the surface and put it away in her house, and soon forgot about it.
When Lan came back from the moon she told Mau of one of her conversations with the stars. They had said that the Celestial Dragon, Grandfather to the Sea and he who had given the Stars souls, had cried a single tear that fell into the ocean as a glass ball. Mau asked why the Celestial Dragon had shed a tear.
"He said that he no longer wished to know the future, for there were many sad things he cannot change, so he shed a tear and with it his powers of knowing the future."
Mau took the orb out and gave it to Nandyia of the elves, who then became Ellayniyah's first seer.
The Celestial Dragon had known that while he could not change the history of the Sands under the Oaks, that he could grant his power to those who could. Thus Divination was given to the elves and many sorrows foreseen and thwarted."

EDIT 3.8.2007 15:23: I retook the picture...I had the shadow of our glass dining room table on the other one. I also tweaked the contrast!
